6 DAYS / 5 NIGHTS
BASIC TOUR ITINERARY
DAY 1
07:30 am departure and we commence our incredible 7 hour boat journey up the Beni and Tuichi River, along the way we have excellent chances to see a huge array of wildlife, Picnic lunch before arriving to the lodge. Once we arrive each tourists is assigned their own Tacana Hut which includes hammocks, comfortable beds and covered area. We partake for a hike into the pristine Amazon forests before coming back to the lodge for a delicious dinner.
After dinner we have a night trek and we will be looking for nocturnal species such as Tapirs, Ocelots, frogs and much more.
DAY 2
After an early Buffet breakfast we hike through the Amazon Forests looking for Howler and Spider Monkeys and we also learn about the vast array of medicinal plants which the Amazon is famous for, we reach a Famous Salt Lick Mirador and we wait for the huge troops of White Lipped Peccaries who come to the Salt lick daily, this is an amazing sight and Jaguars and Tapirs also frequent this area. After lunch we set out for a boat trip down remote areas of the Tuichi River, as this is the deepest lodge we have excellent chances for big mammal viewing, using local fishing techniques we go fishing for giant 20kg plus Golden Dorado, Giant Pacu and Catfish, this is some of the most exciting fishing in the world, This is catch and release and only fish which cannot be returned will be kept for eating. Keep your eyes open as fishing on the river often presents our guests the best opportunities to see key Amazonian species such as the Iconic Jaguar, Tapir and Critically Endangered Giant River Otter.
Dinner will include a traditional fish steamed in Bamboo, or other options and we have some time for rest or more exploring after dark.
DAY 3 MADIDI AMAZON - RURRENRABAQUE
Breakfast and we commence a morning of trekking to look for rare and unique wildlife, if we are lucky we can see the endemic Madidi Titi Monkey or giant troops of White Lipped Peccary’s which frequent the area, lunch before we depart the lodge.
Return to Rurrenrabaque in the evening to your hotel of choice.
DAY 4 RURRENRABQUE – BOLIVIAN PAMPAS
Early morning departure to the town of Santa Rosa, this trip takes around 3 hours and along the way keep your eyes peed for Sloths which are often resting in the nearby trees. From here we take a short boat trip to the Caracoles Lodge where we have Lunch and a few hours of rest and free time. In the afternoon we partake in a scenic boat ride of the Yucuma River, here we will be looking for the areas iconic wildlife which includes, Black Caiman, Anacondas, Monkeys, Capybaras, Pink Dolphins and a huge variety of birds.
DAY 5 BOLIVIAN PAMPAS
Early breakfast before we head on our morning hike through the Pampas, here we will be looking for Capybaras and also the mighty Anaconda – some here have been recorded over 7 metres in length. Lunch and then another boat ride along the Yacuma River, here we go fishing for the infamous Piranha and can get close and personal swimming with the playful Pink Dolphins and this is a fantastic experience.
After dinner we commence a night boat trip where we will be looking for nocturnal Night Monkeys, Brazilian Porcupines, flash lighting for Caimans and with luck a sighting of some of the regions rarer species such as Ocelots, Pumas, Tapirs and Jaguars.
DAY 6: BOLIVIAN PAMPAS – RURRENRABAQUE – TRANSFER FLIGHT
Breakfast then an early morning boat ride to look for more animals with the focus being the huge troops of Squirrel Monkeys and Capuchin Monkeys which frequent the area. Lunch then we depart the lodge and return to Rurrenabaque around 5pm. Here we can help arrange flights to your next destination.
