Nature lovers rejoice, we are now offering an exclusive nature tour to the incredible El Palmar Natural Reserve in Sucre.
El Palmar Nature Reserve may be the best kept natural area of Bolivia which offers world class hiking, birdwatching, landscapes, amazing cultural experiences and much more.
El Palmar hosts some of the last intact Inter Andean Dry forests that are home to Andean Bears, Pumas and critically endangered Red Fronted Mcaws. This nature reserve also offers the best Andean Condor watching in all of South America.
El Palmar Nature Reserve has also been the focus of Mongabay International story about its isolated and endangered population of Andean Bears and Endemic Palm species.
Perhaps the highlight of this tour is exploring the endemic Yanchicoco Palm forests Parajubea Torrally which are only found in Bolivia. These Palms provide Andean Bears food and also support Indigenous communities in the region. The Palm trees combined with impressive Valles and crystal streams provide incredible photographic opportunities.

ITINERARY EXAMPLE
DAY 1
Day 1: Hotel Pick up and a 4-hour drive to the entrance of the park. On route we can stop at the famous Tarabuco town for souvenirs and photo opportunities as well. Lunch in the park before guided tour to K’ala Rumi which is a spectacular viewpoint where we can enjoy world class views. Dinner and overnight in community lodging.
DAY 2
Day 2: A freshly prepared breakfast by the Indigenous community before a guided tour to Yanacocha. This is a spectacular walk through the endemic Palm forest of the Park. If lucky we will have a chance to observe the Andean Bear or Andean Condors. At the base of the hike is a small waterfall with natural pools. Lunch in the community and we depart via car to another Indigenous community. We then partake in a guided tour of the Canon Mision which is a stone formation and then explore this amazing region. Dinner and rest in community lodging.
Day 3
Day 3: Breakfast before a full day’s trek to what is the best Andean Condor watching in Bolivia and possibly all of South America. This hike is over 13kms but it’s a must for all nature lovers. We hike to an area where it’s possible to see up to 70 Condors flying and bathing in natural pools and offers birdwatchers and photographers unrivaled views at these emblematic birds. We hike back to the community and depart the park returning to Sucre in the evening.

** All tours booked here will have proceeds go towards solving wildlife conflicts between Indigenous communities and Pumas, Andean Bears and Andean Condors. We are working with Park staff and local Biologists to protect these species.
