Wildlife watching inside the park is incredible, its common to see 4m plus Black Caimans, Pink Dolphins in the rivers and Green Anacondas basking on trees. In the forests and river banks, Jaguars, Tapirs and Giant Otters are also observed with some frequency. Birdwatchers are treated with over 600 species including some of the last healthy populations of Harpy Eagles and incredible amounts of Macaws!
Such is the beauty and biodiversity of the park it’s been declared an UNESCO Site as well as inspired Sir Conan Doyle’s famous Novel the Lost City.
TOUR ITINEARY EXAMPLE
VIA CESSNA FLIGHT
Day 1: 4-hour boat trip to a small hotel in the Brazilian
Day 1: Hotel pick up and transfer to Airport and 2.5 hour CESSNA FLIGHT to EL CAFETAL AIRSTRIP. We then have a 4-hour boat ride to a small hotel on the Brazilian Border of Pimenteiras where we stay overnight in a small but comfortable hotel. All meals included.
Day 2: Breakfast before a boat trip on the Pausana and Itinez rivers.
Day 2: Breakfast before a spectacular 3-5 hour boat trip on the Pausana and Itinez rivers to the Ashfeld Campsite, keep the camera ready as its possible to observe anything from Jaguars, Giant Otters, Caimans, Spider Monkeys and much more. We arrive and afternoon and evening exploring the incredible Ashfeld waterfalls. All meals included, overnight in Camping.
Day 3: Day 3 Exploring and hiking to visit the remote Arco Iris Waterfalls
Day 3: Full day exploring and hiking to visit the remote Arco Iris Waterfalls, these are some of the most spectacular waterfalls in the entire Amazonia region so it’s a full day enjoying the area, Picnic lunch and overnight in Camp site, all meals included. Night walk to search for nocturnal species or star gazing.
Day 4: Full day exploring the waterfalls
Day 4 – Full day exploring the waterfalls, hiking, wildlife watching, all meals and overnight in campsite.
Day 5: visit to Ashfield waterfalls
Day 5: Beakfast and time for early morning visit to Ashfeld waterfalls before packing up and embarking on the boat trip back to to El Cafetal, overnight in small hotel called Don Carlos.
Day 6: We return to the city Santa Cruz
Day 6 – Breakfast and 1 hour drive to airstrip before returning to Santa Cruz, Lunch and return to Hotel, End of tour.
