Hotel pick up and city tour of Cochabamba, here we learn about the history and culture of this vibrant city and visit the most important areas of the city including the many museums. Lunch where we try many of the foods which were created in this city before an afternoon visit of the world’s largest Christ Statue. Overnight in BOUTIQUE Hotel in CBBA.
Hotel pick up and we depart for the incredible Pico Tunari, along the way we marvel at the changing landscapes and if lucky can spot native wildlife like endangered Andean Condors. Along the way we pass incredible Alpine lakes, waterfalls and indigenous communities. We have the choice of driving to visit beautiful lakes or commence a 6 hour hike to the peak of 5035m Pico Tunari. This trek gives spectacular 360 views of Cochbamba and if lucky views of the snow-capped LLLIMANI MOUNTAINS of La Paz. We return to our hotel around 1830.
Hotel pick up and we depart CBBA in our private 4WD with air-conditioning. The drive which can take 4 hours in dry season or much longer in the wet season is spectacular and offers ever changing landscapes as well as photo opportunities for indigenous communities, rivers and interesting rock formations. We arrive to the National Park of Toro Toro where we pay park fees, check in and delicious lunch. Our guide will explain about the natural wonders of the park and its flora and fauna which include the endangered Andean Condor, Endemic Red Fronted Macaw, Puma and the rarely seen Andean Cat.
The afternoon activity includes a hike to the deepest cave in Bolivia called Umajalanta where we explore the caves attractions. We keep an eye out for blind fish, strange rabbit like creatures called Viscachas and learn about how this cave was formed. Dinner and overnight in a comfortable hotel.
After a hearty breakfast we set out by 4WD for a full day’s adventure. First stop is the Cuidad Itas which at over 4000m is one of the parks most impressive areas. Keep a close eye out for the 3 metre plus Andean Condors which are residents of this area and frequently seen. During the hiking we also see unique rock formations and ancient paintings thought to be over 2000 years old. Lunch and we explore more of the park and seeing more landscapes of ridges, canyons and dinosaur tracks. Dinner and overnight in a comfortable hotel.
Breakfast and we depart to stop at a naturally theatre which was formed over thousands of years. This is where we also have the chance to see and photograph the largest dinosaur tracks of the park. Next stop is a visit to an amazing viewpoint of a spectacular canyon, our guide will be keeping a key eye out for the endemic and endangered Red Fronted Macaws which are only found in a few areas on earth. We continue on down 1000 steps to the bottom of the canyon where we visit the beautiful El Vergel waterfalls which is an amazing treat after the hike. We have time to swim and bathe in the river before hiking back to the 4WD.
One last stop for more dinosaur tracks before we return to CBBA to your hotel.
