TUPIZA TO UYUNI
ITINERARY
DAY 1: TUPIZA TO QUETENA
Today you will visit Quebrada de Palala, a spectacular jagged rock formation, formed over thousands of years by intense erosion. After this you will head on to El Sillar where you will lhave a few minutes to get out and enjoy this dramatic landscape before we continue through Nazarenito, a small gold mining community. Finally, you will arrive to San Pablo de Lípez (4250m).
We continue to San Antonio de Lípez and finally to Quetena, where you will spend your first Overnight in a Private Basic Accommodation. Lunch and dinner included.
DAY 2: QUETENA TO SOLINI
After breakfast you will visit your first lagoon, Laguna Kollpa. If you want, you can get out and take few photographs before continuing through Salar de Chaiviri to arrive at the hot springs in time for a short swimming and some lunch. Your next stop after lunch will be the Laguna Verde (4250ma.s.l.) a spectacular lagoon which presents a stunning emerald green coloration due to arsenic and magnesium content in its waters. It is located at the feet of Volcano Licancabur (5868m), which represents the border between Chile and Bolivia. Desierto de Dalí (110 km2) is our next stop, a place with mountains of surrealist colours, reminiscent of the photos of Salvador Dalí and rock formations of petrified lava.
Then, we will cross the hots springs once more to go to ‘Sol de Mañana’ Geysers (5000m above sea level). After that, we will go to visit Laguna Colorada, where you will see many flamingos, then, we will enter to the Siloli Desert where you will visit Árbol de Piedra. For this night there are 2options of hotels. We can stay in the middle of the Siloli Desert in Hotel Desierto de Tayka, or we can continue traveling for around 1.5 hours more until Laguna Hediona, where the major concentration of flamingos is located and stay in front of the Lagoon in Hotel Los Flamencos. All meals included.
DAY 3: SOLINI TO COLCHANI
If we stay in Hotel Desierto de Tayka, after breakfast we will go to Laguna Honda, which has a niceview-point, then, we will continue to Laguna Hedionda to see the flamingos. If we stay in HotelLos Flamencos, you can leave early in the morning to see the sunrise in the lagoon by your ownand go back to the hotel for breakfast. After Laguna Hedionda, we will continue crossing smalllagoons, where you will see many vicuñas and possibly even an Andean fox, then you will go to aview-pint to see the Ollague volcano, which is a semi-active volcano, then we will go to visit LagunaNegrand Valle de Rocas, where you will see many different rock formations. After that we will go to Uyuni through San Cristobal and finally arrive to Colchani to stay in a Salt hotel. There are 3 options for this night. We can stay in Palacio de Sal, Luna Salada or Cristal Samaña. All meals included.
DAY 4: COLCHANI TO UYUNI
Today we will cross the immense Salar de Uyuni (3650 m.a.s.l.) early in the morning to see the world class sunrise. At 12,000 km2, the Salar de Uyuni is the largest salt plain in the world, stretching away in all directions as far as the eye can see. From here you can see volcano Tunupa In the background. It has 14 small islands, the most important is the Incahuasi Island or fish island and you will visit it after breakfast. Around the island you can see the Ojos del Agua, these are springs which act as pores for the salt flats. Leaving the salt bed we will visit Colchani, the village where the salt is processed. Here there are various salt souvenirs and alpaca or llama wool clothes. Finally the tour finishes in Uyuni around 1-2 pm in the central part of the city. Breakfast and lunch included. END OF SERVICE.
