Overview

About This Tour

Hidden in the valleys surrounding Samaipata, Codo de los Andes is one of Bolivia’s best-kept trekking secrets — a full-day adventure through forested valleys, rivers and dramatic Andean viewpoints rarely visited by travellers.

The day begins with an early pickup and a scenic drive through forest, river and mountain scenery before meeting a local guide for a day of hiking that ends at one of the most spectacular viewpoints in Bolivia. With patience, this is also Andean Condor territory, and the surrounding valleys are home to the Viscacha, a rabbit-like relative of the chinchilla often seen sunning itself on rocky outcrops.

Suited to travellers with a moderate to high level of fitness, the trek runs year-round and is best enjoyed between May and November.
