Overview

Bolivia — One of the World's Great Herping Destinations

Bolivia records over 290 reptile species and more than 200 amphibian species, distributed across ecosystems that range from Andean cloudforest to Amazonian lowlands, Pantanal wetlands and Gran Chaco thorn scrub. The diversity is extraordinary — Bolivia holds the highest recorded snake diversity per unit area in South America, including some of the continent’s most sought-after species: the Bushmaster (the world’s largest pit viper), the Rainbow Boa, the Yellow Anaconda, the Green Anaconda, and dozens of treefrog and poison dart frog species.

Nick’s Adventures Bolivia offers four specialist herping expeditions, ranging from a half-day outing near Santa Cruz to multi-day expeditions in the Amazon, Beni and Gran Chaco regions. All expeditions are led by guides with specific experience in locating and handling reptiles and amphibians safely. All encounters with venomous species are conducted with strict safety protocols — observation and photography only.
