Nick’s Adventures Bolivia operates seven distinct experience types: Wildlife Tours, Birdwatching Tours, Amazon Jungle Tours, Conservation Tours, Cultural Tours, National Parks Tours, and Trekking Tours. All tours are private, led by English-speaking naturalist guides, and available with flexible departure dates. Custom multi-type itineraries combining two or more experience types are also available.

Bolivia’s most exceptional wildlife experience is Jaguarland Reserve in the Bolivian Pantanal — widely regarded as one of the most reliable jaguar destinations in the Americas. The reserve is accessed from Santa Cruz and is home to jaguar, giant otter, tapir, capybara, caiman, anaconda, and over 600 bird species. The dry season (May–October) is peak wildlife viewing time. For a broader Amazon wildlife experience, Rurrenabaque and Madidi National Park offer river dolphins, monkeys, macaws, and caimans.

Bolivia is one of South America’s most important birding destinations, with over 1,400 recorded bird species — the fifth highest national count in the world. The country spans multiple distinct ecosystems: Amazonian lowlands, Yungas cloud forest, Andean puna, and Chiquitano dry forest, each with a distinct avifauna. Common combinations include Wildlife + Birdwatching (Jaguarland + Amazon), Amazon Jungle + Trekking (Rurrenabaque + Yungas), and Cultural + National Parks (Samaipata + Amboró). For first-time visitors, we typically recommend starting with a Wildlife Tour centered on Jaguarland Reserve — it delivers Bolivia’s most memorable experience and is accessible from Santa Cruz in one day. A second option is a combined Amazon Jungle + Birdwatching tour based out of Rurrenabaque, which gives a broader sense of Bolivia’s natural diversity. If cultural exploration is a priority, the Cultural + National Parks combination around La Paz, Samaipata, and Amboró is an excellent choice. With 7–10 days, most travelers can comfortably experience two of these.

Bolivia’s trekking routes range from moderate day hikes (Samaipata cloud forest, Amboró National Park) to challenging multi-day treks at high altitude in the Andes and Yungas. Most routes we offer are accessible to travelers with a reasonable level of fitness and no prior mountaineering experience. Altitude acclimatization is important for Andean routes above 3,500 meters. We always adapt the route to the group’s pace and physical condition — let us know your fitness level when booking and we’ll recommend the right trail.

The dry season (May–October) is ideal for Wildlife Tours (Jaguarland, Amazon), Trekking Tours, National Parks, and Conservation Tours — vegetation is lower, trails are passable, and animal sightings are more frequent around water sources. Birdwatching is excellent year-round, but the wet season (November–April) brings migratory species to the Amazon. Cultural Tours can be done at any time of year. The Uyuni Salt Flats mirror effect — if that’s on your radar — requires the wet season (January–March).
